WEEK 4 GAME SUMMARY

This week 4 match-up was hampered by rain and high speed winds. Both teams had to make adjustments to move the ball. The Griffins came into the game with a new look west coast offense. They also brought in some new players such as Chris Hennessey, John Malizzio and Matt Anklam. Keeping the Wishbone set in tact, the Griffins opted for a shorter passing game. This proved very effective. Rookie QB Matt Anklam dominated his oppenents. He completed 73% of his passes en route to 5 touchdowns in the air. Ultraback Kevin Kosnick also took snaps and threw for 4 touchdowns of his own, while grabbing passes as well. CFL Veteran Chris Hennessey led both teams in receiving yards and pulled off one of the most incredible runs in CFL history breaking tackles and juking opponents. The Anklam to Hennessey connection is one we can be looking for in years to come. Wingbacks Dave Hennessey and Kenny Maningas continued to perform well racking up a combined 277 yards. However, it was Dave's defense that was the surprise of the game. Dave grabbed three big interceptions tying Dan Bongiorno's CFL record of 3. The rest of the offense was fueled by Carmine Seego's two TD receptions, Malizzio's speed and Eric Kosnick's game winning TD. Concisely, the Griffin's rebounded well after last week's disappointment.

The Headhunters came to the field as the favorites to win. However, their fate dramatically changed when journeymen Joe Kent started under the center. Kent had an off day completing only 31% of his passes. The Headhunters used many different QB's throughout the game none off them being solidly consistent. The Headhunters did have some success in the deep passing game. WR Matt Koppelman continued to grab passes out of the sky for big yards. UB Joe Binkley also had another flawless performance completing 7 passes en route to 200 total yards. He also led all defenders with 8 tackles. Another bright spot was the performance of Nick Miscanis. Nick have three receiving touchdowns and made some big plays at QB. Yet, the Headhunters just could not click and lost this game big.

FINAL SCORE: GRIFFINS 70, HEADHUNTERS 35
